Aloha Spirit on the Big Island of Hawaii

August 17, 2007

Aloha,

My name is Lani Quinting, I'm a Realtor Associate with Century 21 All Islands in Hilo on the East side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Yes, I sell Big Island Real Estate! I was born and raised on Oahu and now I live on the Big Island. I love living here!!! Since I moved to this island over 13 years ago, a lot has changed. Change can be good right?

I want to talk a little about our Aloha Spirit on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Aloha Spirit:
In my opinion, our island is probably the last island left where you can truly, still see and feel the Aloha Spirit alive and well. It is also my opinion that the Aloha Spirit is a learned skill. We learn about it growing up and we pass it on to our children and they pass it on and so forth. Sometimes we forget though. People come here and they don't know what the Aloha Spirit is and so we tend to follow in the footsteps of actions that are not within the way of how it should be as far as our Aloha Spirit is concerned. Examples of this may include: not saying hello to people you pass by, not letting the car in front of you go so that the traffic congestion can ease up, not keeping an eye out for your neighbors, etc. Basically, our Aloha Spirit is about doing the right thing, treating people the way you want to be treated and making people feel good inside. For those of you on the Big Island, even though we might forget sometimes, we are doing a great job at keeping the Aloha Spirit alive. For those of you planning to move here please keep the Aloha Spirit in mind. Learn it, practice it, and live it.

Mahalo!
